It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
